POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for executing hardware and engine builds as it relates to final design, BOM/BOP, part procurement and inventory control. Must be familiar with gas and diesel engine hardware and have excellent organizational skills. Use independent judgment where decisions are within the limits of best practices and will receive direct guidance from supervisor

GENERAL OVERVIEW

Build race engine for development and track use
Inspect incoming parts for quality and dimension
Inspect machined parts for quality and dimensions
Disassemble and inspect engines after use

Required Skills/Experience

2 year college degree in Engineering, Automotive Technology, or equivalent experience
Minimum of 10 years race engine build experience necessary or equivalent (Even if this is a personal hobby or race enthusiast).
High level skills in engine assembly
High level skills in engine failure analysis
High level skills in engine blueprinting including critical measurement and dam timing inspection.
High level experience with high tech 4 cylinder engines
High level understanding of engine management systems
Race engine calibration experience desired
Working knowledge of inspection and measuring equipment
Strong skills in and hands-on mechanical work
Leadership skill to direct others
Interpersonal skills required to work with others from various disciplines and cultures.
Clean State of Michigan driver's license.
Basic typing and math skills
Interest in vehicles, engines and hands-on work
Strong organizational skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong level of analytical ability and problem solving skills
RESPONSIBILITIES

Support Engineering Design and Lab Operations Supervisors
Works in concert with design engineers, lab engineers and purchasing to ensure timely delivery of hardware to meet BOM and BOP requirements.
Ensure all items released for build are complete and accurate.
Maintain inventory of custom and standard parts required for test article builds
Responsible for creating test article, cart and pallet build kits within specified project timing
Responsible for reuse and restocking of components after test
Train and develop proficiency in various operating tools supporting design and build processes
Communicates information to and from stakeholders
Encourage and maintain positive/supportive relationship with customers and suppliers
Use best practices and support continuous process improvement
Maintains safety and good housekeeping standards

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Two years technical college/equivalent experience or Associates Degree or equivalent experience

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Proficient in Microsoft Office products. Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Good interpersonal skills
Good oral and written communication skills
Good analytical ability
Good customer service and delivery
Demonstrated high level of organization and inventory skills
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to work in a team environment
Understanding of Specification and Release terms
Familiar with engineering operations and processes
Familiar with engine hardware and assembly
Familiarity with manufacturing processes and assembly operations
Position related experience 1-3 years

PREFFERED REQUIREMENTS

Associates Degree in Engine Technology preferred
