We are focused on all students' academic, social, and emotional development by providing a STEM-focused and College-Prep program to families in Southeast Michigan.
The Special Education Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of special education programs within the district.
This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders, including teachers, parents, administrators, and support staff, to ensure the delivery of high-quality special education services that meet the unique needs of students with disabilities.
The Special Education Coordinator will provide leadership, guidance, and support to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, develop individualized education plans, and promote an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive special education program that aligns with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as the school's mission and vision.
Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and support staff to identify, evaluate, and place students in appropriate special education programs based on individual needs.
Conduct regular assessments and data analysis to monitor student progress, identify areas for improvement, and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
Provide guidance and support to teachers in designing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) that address students' unique learning goals and accommodations.
Coordinate and facilitate meetings with parents, teachers, and other professionals to review student progress, discuss concerns, and develop strategies for academic and behavioral success.
Collaborate with general education teachers to promote inclusive practices and support the inclusion of students with disabilities in mainstream classrooms.
Stay up to date with current research, trends, and best practices in special education, and provide professional development opportunities to staff to enhance their knowledge and skills.
Ensure compliance with legal requirements, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 504, and other applicable laws and regulations.
Foster positive relationships with external agencies, service providers, and community organizations to enhance support services available to students with disabilities.
Serve as a resource person for parents, staff, and the community regarding special education policies, procedures, and resources.
Qualifications:
A minimum of three years of experience in special education as a teacher or supervisor.
A master's degree in special education, education administration, or a related field.
Valid state certification or license in special education administration or a related field.
In-depth knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
Proven experience working with students with disabilities and developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs).
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey information and interact with parents, staff, and external agencies.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities to address complex issues and make data-informed decisions.
Proficiency in using educational software, data management systems, and assistive technology tools.
A commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students with disabilities.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
