Industrial Engineer - New Program Lead

Description We are looking for an energetic and passionate Industrial Engineer that will champion early development of new product programs. Your work will involve complex manufacturing systems such as battery and drive unit assembly, castings, machining metal components, engine and transmission assembly, and fuel cells. Your strengths in team collaboration, effective communication, and integration of information provide a sound base for this position. The ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment is critical to your success at General Motors. Responsibilities - What You'll Do Learn and demonstrate solid methodology and understanding of IE Tools. Implement Lean Manufacturing Systems and Standardized Work to achieve line balance to meet program KPI's, (JPH, VA %), benchmark HPU and Productivity Targets. Develop plans, status, analyze, and provide countermeasures to Launch Timing Plan. Coordinate integration activities with engineering teams, suppliers, and in-plant IE team from initial concept through prototype development and into full production. Provide investment and labor impacts for new program and model year studies. Lead 'Plan For Every Part' Workshops to define and align multi-functional teams in process, packaging, workstation design, material delivery, tooling, and layouts. Analyze system data from current programs to improve performance and participate in Throughput Improvement (TIP) Workshops to improve current production programs. Participate in Virtual Builds and Pre-Production Build events to understand new program build process, tooling, automation, sequence, quality, and test system requirements. Support resolution of ergonomic issues identified and tracked for the program. Travel required to support Mexico plants 20% of the time Additional Description Required Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent/related field. Minimum of 10 years of related Industrial Engineering experience. Experience launching engines, transmissions and casting in assembly and machining production lines. Exceptional verbal/written communication skills in Spanish to collaborate with our Mexican plants. Manufacturing Plant experience (Engineering, Operations, Leadership etc.). Capable and willing to travel (Within USA, Canada, Mexico, and abroad). Preferred Knowledge and experience in the Vehicle/Powertrain/Propulsion Development Process from design concept to program execution and launch of high-volume manufacturing. Experience procuring workstation materials (Racks, Dolly, Minomi, Lift Tables, Trays, Bridge & Rail, Lift Assists, etc.) Experience in Standardized Work (STDS), Assembly Line Balance (APS), Benchmark Calculator (BMC), Simulations, Man-Machine Charts, Indirect Labor Studies, Purchasing Planning & Financial Tracking, Throughput Improvement Process (TIP), Ergonomics Evaluations, Workstation and Plant design using AutoCAD, Continuous Improvement Process (CIP), Problem Solving Techniques, Value Stream Mapping, return on investment Studies, and Layout Development. Strong project management skills and the ability to work to tight project deadlines. Certification or experience in Agile Project Management Principles and Practices (PMI-ACP) Experience in any of the following is highly desired:
Battery, Drive Unit or Fuel Cell high-volume manufacturing. Castings systems and manufacturing methods.
Salary Range:
$100K -- $150K
