The Assistant Chief Engineer will:
Provide leadership to product engineering team for given propulsion system components. Deliver balanced, integrated and validated system to the vehicle team that meets system requirements. Coordinate with sub-system ACEs/PSIE/PDSE/AE/LE/DVE/Controls System Integration leads/Lead calibration engineer. Ensure all requirements are released on time and with quality On-time execution of Global x Development Process (GxDP) engineering deliverables Complete POE tasks for new or major programs as required Responsible for approval of design trade off study prior to PAPIR review as needed. Provide direction and decisions for propulsion system integration and engineering plans & deliverables, in forums like V/PPIT, ADV meeting, BRT and CIT. Lead resolution of engineering issues on time per issue resolution process and ensure solutions are implemented to program's expectation. Lead material cost optimization / reduction activities for assigned components and systems across all electric propulsion systems. Identify areas of cost reduction opportunity, manage Continuous Improvement database and provide status report-outs as required Manage engineering plan, timing and budget. Maintain product planbook Provide product engineering input to PET/Vehicle timing workshop Establish and optimize product engineering budget Approve all program purchase requests, ensuring within the established budget Represent electric drive system engineering team. Responsible for product engineering deliverables/report outs/follow-ups in PET. Provide product engineering input and feedback to electrification planning studies. Responsible for product engineering's material in forums where topics related to propulsion system engineering are discussed in coordination with electrification VSE. Support electrification VSE for vehicle deliverables Support CE in decision making process. Coordinate and lead Pre-Production Design Reviews (PPDRs) for assigned components/systems Coordinate and lead PAPIR meetings Provide input to HRM process as needed/requested Review / provide appropriate input to workload model for accuracy and program compliance Additional Description REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS BSE, BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering 10
Years' experience with a major automotive OEM Demonstrated leadership capability, including ability to drive teams to consistently meet deadlines, organize task teams around challenging issues, communicate clearly and succinctly to leadership and customers with appropriate facts and recommendations, exercise good judgment when dealing with incomplete information, and maintain focus and composure under stressful situations. Demonstrated ability to deal with ambiguity and change while working on complex problems. Solid understanding of product development processes Basic familiarity with manufacturing, vehicle assembly and service processes. Basic understanding of specifications and release terms, processes and systems. High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others. High level of written and oral communication skills; presentation preparation and delivery for leadership reviews (PET, GPVS, VPE, etc.). Global travel as required and approved by leadership. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS MSE, MS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, MBA Familiarity with electrical, controls, N&V, thermal, and physical integration of electrified propulsion systems Solid understanding of GM engineering change management (E-squared) process High voltage or electrified vehicle safety training and hands on work experience .
Salary Range:
$100K -- $150K
Minimum Qualification
Mechanical Engineering, Electrical EngineeringEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
