Description The position leads the design, implementation & execution of key Workplace Risk Mitigation processes across the organization, including Safety Design-In which incorporates inherent safe designs for facilities, machinery & equipment that is utilized in GM's manufacturing & non-manufacturing processes; Safety Contract Management, addressing all safety elements of contractors, service providers & suppliers that perform work at GM sites; & Risk Management Processes & tools to support safe decision making at all levels of the organization The Sr. Manager Global Workplace Risk Mitigation will be responsible for leading and mentoring multiple teams of safety professionals to support a site and/or region in the implementation of safety processes. Collaboration with various customers & stakeholders in the successful execution of the Safety Management System components related to Safety Design & Launch & Safety Contract Management. Lead a global organization of Workplace Safety professionals in multiple levels & multiple countries; assure proper resources are allocated to address operational risks; coach & mentor other Workplace Safety leaders. Interaction with Global functional groups & stakeholders for implementation of a common Safety Design & Launch system for future product programs Lead the design & execution of processes to reduce injuries & eliminate fatalities of Contractors working at GM Sites. Provide external linkages to keep GM standards current compared to technology, regulatory & industry advancements. Scaling appropriate SCM requirements based on risk to operations. Influencing multiple stakeholders across GM (Global Manufacturing Engineering, Sustainable Workplaces, Global Purchasing & Supply Chain, Global Manufacturing System, GM Legal, Union Leadership, Global Workplace Safety. Primary interfaces are director level & above) as well as external stakeholders (ongoing regulatory influence from various countries, key Supplier Counsels, NGO associations such as American National Standards Institute, International Standards Organization, National Safety Council, Campbell Institute, Automotive Industry Action Group, Construction Labor Trades organizations. Ensuring attainment of key provisions of SCM at all locations. Safety Design directly impacts operational safety as well as ability to launch product lines expeditiously. Direct impact on safety of GM people. Realize the goal of everyone returning home safe. Develop risk mitigation methods, enable the implementations of the Global Workplace Safety System. Interpretation of standards, technical review of equipment standards & designs. Interpret & apply external safety rules, regulations & recommendations. Develop and Improve Performance Standards, Equipment Standards, UAW-GM Safety Policies, Contractual expectations for suppliers. New regulatory or agency policies on industrial safety that impacts GM. Demonstrated leadership in complex Workplace Safety construction & manufacturing environments. Additional Description Demonstrated leadership skills in the areas of building talent, team collaboration, decisiveness, innovation, inspiration, managing change & vision. Demonstrated Leadership with a Global Vision & Multi-Cultural experiences. Broad, diverse global career experience in business & operations. Qualification A bachelor's degree (Safety or Engineering) with 5
years of leadership roles in Workplace Safety or Industrial Hygiene position or Manufacturing Equivalent. Post Graduate studies in Safety or Related Engineering is desirable. Safety Certifications are desirable. Demonstrated leadership in complex Workplace Safety and manufacturing environments Demonstrated leadership skills in the areas of building talent, team collaboration, decisive, innovative, inspirational, manage change and visionary. Salary Range:
$100K -- $150K
Minimum Qualification
Operations ManagementEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
