About the Position:
This position is under the Deputy Chief of Staff for Facilities, Logistics and Environmental, Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center's (TARDEC) G7 branch.

You will serve as analyst in the field of analytical chemistry for evaluation of environmental, biological and special samples for radioactivity. Other analyses, such as asbestos and inorganic analyses may be required. Performs preparations, quality control, and equipment maintenance, calibrations, calculations, waste and sample preparation and disposal related to workplace exposure analysis. Uses most types of equipment, instruments, and materials from basic to complex. These may include, but are not limited to, infrared spectrometer, meters, probes, detectors, radiation counters, gas transfer systems, distillation systems, microscopes, sampling pumps and media.Participates with laboratories in devising new or improved testing methods. Where the characteristics of the substances are known, this work is based upon the chemical and physical properties of substances, the state of the art of current analytical methods, and the underlying chemical and physical properties of the available instruments. Devises new techniques and methodologies for newly identified substances. This work is also particularly complex requiring a person who is not only thoroughly familiar with field and laboratory work but who has the capability of working with substances whose chemical and physical properties characteristics may be unknown.Generates reports based upon analytical data produced from surveys.Leads/guides/mentors workforce in dealing with complex problems. Solves broad organizational issues. Implements strategic plans within and across organizational components.

Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Application of engineering or scientific knowledge in a line or staff capacity with direct and substantial effect on laboratory operations. Site-specific program/project management and administration of various mandatory federal, state, and local safety, health, and environmental quality compliance programs. These examples are typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (DE -02).

Applicants must posess a Bachelors Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Basis for Rating : Qualified candidates will be assigned to one of three quality categories: Best Qualified, Highly Qualified and Qualified. Veteran preference eligibles are listed ahead of non-preference eligibles within each quality category.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
