About the General Motors Network Operations Center Team:
GM's Network Operations Center Team (NOC) is an extension of all the engineering towers and is responsible for network monitoring (eyes on glass), incident triage, and management of scripted changes to the environment. Team members support multiple networking technologies, services, and components. This industry-leading environment leverages emerging technologies to efficiently deliver robust services to meet GM business requirements and maintain service levels.
About the role: The network engineer will be responsible for providing incident management support and leadership to the Warren and Brazil shift engineers.
Responsibilities:
Demonstrate a high level of experience in WAN and LAN technologies including Cisco, HP, Checkpoint and F5 hardware.
Have working knowledge of WAN routing protocols including OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, IGRP, and IS-IS
Experience in management and operation of multiple Packet Capture platforms including Net Scout, Gigastor, and Endace.
Provide direction on workload assignments and distribution within the NOC team.
Perform repeatable change while on shift
Escalate to engineering vertical teams (when appropriate) and provide timely updates to leadership on critical issues
Have a strong understanding of layer 2 protocols such as SPB, OTV, Trill
Experience/Knowledge of MPLS (L2 & L3 VPN)
Experience/Knowledge of Cisco routing and switching
Have a strong knowledge of IPS HP Tipping Point
Have a strong understanding of Proxy technologies
Demonstrate experience of working in a call center engineering and/or operations environment
Qualifications
Minimum
Qualifications:
Technical Bachelor degree in Information Technology, or equivalent experience.

years of related experience with data/unified communications and thorough understanding of the following:
WAN routing protocols including OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, IGRP, and IS-IS TCP/IP protocol suite
Layer 2 protocols such as SPB, OTV, Trill
Packet Capture platforms including Net Scout, Gigastor, and Endace.
Proxy technologies
Route protocols including but not limited to EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, PPP, MPLS
Network management systems and tools
Cisco routers and Switches (N7K, N5K, N2K. Catalyst 6500, 3750, 2960)
Working knowledge of network appliances including firewalls, load balancers, packet sniffers, etc.
Working knowledge of infrastructure and network services including but not limited to: DNS, DHCP, NTP, SNMP, Authentication, Active Directory, LDAP
Large scale enterprise network infrastructure design and implementation
Exceptional work ethic and the ability to multi-task with limited supervision
Ability to think logically, resolve conflicts, and take charge in outage situations
Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a team environment
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Preferred
Qualifications:
Fundamental Knowledge of Data and Voice Infrastructures.
Knowledge of all ITIL processes
Display strong Leadership skills.
